"Single Soon" was recorded during the sessions for Selena Gomez's third studio album, "Rare", but the track didn't make the cut. The current version was released on the 25th of August, 2023, accompanied by the music video directed by Philip Andelman.

Selena Gomez explained on social media one week before this track's release, "Y'all have been asking for new music for a while. Since I'm not quite done with SG3, I wanted to put out a fun little song I wrote a while back that's perfect for the end of summer."

This song is a celebration of single life, although Selena Gomez was seen on what looked like dates (non confirmed) with several people in 2023: DJ Fred, Zayn Malik, Drew Taggart and Jeremy Allen White. She wrote on Instagram on the 26th of August, 2023, "Thank you guys for all the love on Single Soon!!! It's a playful anthem about being comfortable in your own skin and loving your own company... and it's also really fun to dance to!"
