Google has announced the development of a new experimental conversational AI service called Bard, powered by their Language Model for Dialogue Applications (LaMDA). Bard seeks to combine the breadth of the world’s knowledge with the power, intelligence and creativity of large language models to provide fresh, high-quality responses to user queries. Google is releasing Bard initially with a smaller model version of LaMDA, which requires significantly less computing power, enabling them to scale to more users and gain feedback to improve the quality and speed of Bard. The company has a long history of using AI to improve search for billions of people and plans to integrate the latest AI advancements in their products, starting with Search. Additionally, Google plans to onboard individual developers, creators, and enterprises to try their Generative Language API, powered initially by LaMDA with a range of models to follow, to make it easy for others to build innovative applications with AI.
